This Graves Pessac-Léognan Sauternes wine tour from Bordeaux takes you through the quietest, most beautiful corner of the
wine region — a landscape of pine forests, gravel soils and gently rolling vineyards that feels a world away from the
busier routes of Médoc and Saint-Émilion.
Escape the crowds and explore the more confidential side of Bordeaux on a private tour through three of its most distinguished appellations. In Pessac-Léognan, grand estates produce some of the finest red and dry white wines in all of Bordeaux — complex, elegant, and far too often overlooked by visitors who never venture south of the city. Further along the quiet country roads, the Graves region unfolds in long, unhurried rows of vines where winemakers have been perfecting their craft for centuries.
And then there is Sauternes. Not the caricature of sticky sweetness that its reputation sometimes suggests, but something far more nuanced — a wine shaped by morning mist, noble rot and extraordinary patience. Tasted in the estate where it was made, with the vineyard stretching out before you, it is a revelation every time.
The landscapes here are, quite simply, breathtaking. So much so that for those who want to experience them at their own
pace, we can organise part of the day by electric bike — pedalling through silent country roads, past centuries-old châteaux and into a scenery that few visitors ever get to see.
Take It Further
For those who want to make a full day of it, we can arrange lunch at some of the region’s finest tables. Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey — home to a two Michelin-starred restaurant set within a 13th-century estate in the heart of Sauternes offers one of the most extraordinary lunch experiences in all of Bordeaux. For a more intimate setting, Le Cercle provides a menu that celebrates the local terroir with equal care and precision. On request, a visit to Château de Malle — a 17th-century Historic Monument recently opened to wine
tourism — can also be included for those curious about the heritage and history of the appellation. Whether you choose to arrive by van or by electric bike, to lunch at a Michelin-starred table or picnic among the vines, this tour adapts entirely to you — because the best
days in wine country are the ones that feel entirely your own.

Q&A
What is a 'Private Tour'?
A private tour is a completely customized wine tour for you and your guests based on your interests, wine preferences, knowledge and even the type of event.
Can we bring our luggage on the tour?
You can carry your luggage with you on request. It will depend on the size of the luggage and the space available in the van. But your chauffeur-guide will accompany you during your visits, so, any luggage or personal effects inside the vehicle will be left unattended. Bordeaux Wine Trails cannot be held liable in the event of theft or damage to your property.
Can we buy wine on this tour?
Yes, with the exception of a few very rare estates, it is possible to buy wine after this tour. We can transport the wine back to Bordeaux in the van. Most estates even take care of shipping depending on the country of destination.
Are the winery tours private?
The scheduled tours are generally reserved exclusively for Bordeaux Wine Trails visitors and are mostly private. Some wine estates won’t guarantee that the tour will be private and it is possible that other people may join us on that particular tour, but in any case the total number of guests on tour would never exceed 12.
What happens if the weather is bad?
Our minivan tours always go through unless there is imminent danger due to the weather conditions. In case of rain, we provide umbrellas to all our guests. Also, we try to keep track of the weather conditions a few days before the tour in case we need to reschedule it. But if due to unforeseen weather trouble the tour is cancelled you will receive a full refund.
