This family wine tour in Bordeaux is a private full-day experience designed for parents who refuse to choose between great wine and a great day out for their children.
Ready to explore one of the world’s most infamous wine regions? Don’t worry about finding a babysitter, this family-friendly wine tour ensures parents and children alike get to discover a taste of the French lifestyle. Get comfy in one of our minivans and set off to the prestigious vineyards of Saint-Emilion. First stop, a child-friendly Grand Cru or Grand Cru Classé chateau, with a wine tasting for the parents, and organized activities for the kids.
Our next chateau stop includes another wine tasting and a nice lunch. We recommend a privatized picnic style lunch in the middle of the vineyard. Plenty of space for the children to run around whilst the parents relax with a nice glass of wine.
The tour continues with a guided tour of the medieval village of Saint-Emilion, a UNESCO world heritage site, full of cobbled streets that wind through ancient limestone houses and boutiques. Whilst the parents peruse the wine shops and learn about the history, the children will enjoy a treasure hunt!

Q&A
What activities are provided for the children?
Fun activities are provided for children from the age of 3, such as games, coloring books, stickers, treasure hunts and a chocolate shop visit. The activities depend on the winery.
Are the winery tours private?
The scheduled tours are generally reserved exclusively for Bordeaux Wine Trails visitors and are mostly private. Some wine estates won’t guarantee that the tour will be private and it is possible that other people may join us on that particular tour, but in any case the total number of guests on tour would never exceed 12.
Can we buy wine on this tour?
Yes, with the exception of a few very rare estates, it is possible to buy wine after this tour. We can transport the wine back to Bordeaux in the van. Most estates even take care of shipping depending on the country of destination.
What is recommended as appropriate attire?
Wear closed shoes for the cobblestone streets in Saint-Emilion, and warm clothing for the wine cellars where the temperature is around 59°F (15°C).
